You have to drink like the Irish if in Ireland! Dublin for sure has got you covered with some really amazing options to go bar and food hopping. One of the Saturdays not only did I have the best time exploring the best places to drink in Dublin with my friends but it was a sweet surprise to know that there are so many great and unique options just a walking distance away. I have to thank my friends Bart and Aggie for introducing me to them and saving me the effort! If you just have a day to drink like the Irish in Dublin, here are some of the best places to drink in Dublin that you shouldn’t miss!
But first start your day with a good brunch!
I prefer some food in my belly prior to get my drink on,so I don’t get drunk too fast. Start your day with some delicious brunch at Dakoi Oriental Cafe. I love this place in Dublin 1, a small restaurant in the corner serves really great beef/chicken noodle soup which is mind blowing. If you aren’t a big fan of noodle soup, the other option would be Il Fornio for some really good coffee and light bites. This place doesn’t seat more than two people though!
Head for mind blowing cocktails at Dublin’s best speakeasy bar!
A curious looking black building near Dame street is easy to miss as the building has no signs or even name written on it. It has a simple brown door at the entrance with VCC written on it in small letters. Ring the bell on the side of the door and wait for a lady to come and get you! With some really good cocktail options starting from 1400’s to the present, you’ll love the authenticity and spookiness of this place. Some of my favorites were Mint Julep from 1820’s which has dark rum in it and the other one would be French 75 which is a gin based drink! But you have whole lot of options to choose from.
An extra-ordinary tapas bar!
Stop by the Bart’s, for a subtle surprise. This pub has certainly raised the standard of pub food with delicious drinks. While we continued drinking, we decided to checkout some croquettes, lobster fries and barrel fries. The “booze and caffeine” is a coffee drink which definitely stood out and became my favorite! This place is a must.
Some more food and drinks!
I think the best way to keep up with drinking all day is munching on small bites in between. However, you do reach a point where you need a good portion of food and The Ramen Bar was our next stop which is only 5 minutes walk away from the Bart’s. You will not be disappointed by this place. You’ll find some creative vegetarian dishes like the Veggie Ramen Burger which has buns made from crisp ramen noodles with a scrumptious potato patty. The other one that caught my interest was the Spinach Yasai which has spinach noodles in the broth with veggies and some mouth watering spinach dumplings. Do not forget to try their Kimchi Arinchini which goes perfectly well with their house lager or ciders! Easily the best Ramen place in Dublin.
Bohemian Cocktail Bar, it’s called the Chelsea Drugstore!
I loved the decor and the vibe of this place. With a tempting variety of drinks to choose from this place is perfect to keep your night going and drink like the Irish.
It is time for tap dancing at the Church!
Now that you have had the best ramen and some great cocktails in Dublin, head to The Church to enjoy tap dancing inside a church. Yes! this place is a bar inside a church. Something you don’t want to miss!
Drinks with Live music at John Gogarty’s
Head to John Gogarty’s for some live Irish music and a Guinness. Get your face painted for 5 euros! This is just a start of an epic night.
Some more drinks and live music!
Head to The Merchant’s Arch for more live music and more drinks! This place has really lively atmosphere and great music!
Continue the night in the underground Liquor Room!
Head to the Liquor room for some more cocktails and drinks. As soon as you enter this place you feel like you’ve entered the 90’s music club! They have live music alternate Fridays!
It’s time to Silent Disco!
Feel like grooving? Head to Whelan’s for a Silent Disco night which starts from 11:00PM, this is where you’ll find people go crazy to the tune of the DJ with their headsets on!
By the end of it, you would have tried the most amazing bars which are not under tourist radar and yet some of the best places to drink in Dublin.
