After exploring Yellowstone National park on our Day 1 of the trip we left for the Tetons on day 2 in the evening. You can read about the yellowstone adventure here. The Grand Teton National Park is comparatively smaller than the Yellowstone National Park, one day is more than enough to explore this park if you are not planning on doing the hikes. On our trip to this beautiful park, we were staying in Victor, ID which is only a couple of hours away from the park and we were glad that we were staying here. Idaho is very beautiful and underrated. Experiencing the state was a good surprise. Here is my list of Grand Teton National Park, things to do!
1) Stop at Jackson Hole Sign Post on your way towards the National Park from Idaho after you cross Teton Pass way. You get a perpetual view of the mountains and the clouds standing still.
2) Explore the Jackson Hole Town Square. It is a beguiling small town couple of miles from the National Park and the most preferred stop for food, shopping etc. Some of our favorites here were Gaslight alley that has a couple of restaurants and souvenir shops. Thai Plate is one of the best thai places I have been to in the USA, great food and service. Check out the Yippy IO Candy Co store for some sugar rush. Try some fresh spirit and spice at Vom Fass, their tiramisu liquor and caramel vodka liquor were to die for.
3) Watch the Jackson Hole Shootout at 6:00PM. It has been a tradition since 1957, they play every day in summer from Monday – Saturday in the evening. Don’t forget to catch their play The Ballad of Cat Ballou in Jacksonhole playhouse.
4) Drive on US 191 N/S Highway which is one of the scenic highways here. You can read more about it here.
5) Get a breathtaking view of the Tetons on Teton Park road as soon as you enter the National Park. You can read more on where to view the Tetons from here.
6) Check out the Mormon Row Historic District for some mormon history and the rustic Moulton Barn located in the district, which makes for one great picture with Tetons in the background.
7) Drive to Schwbacher Landing either during sunrise or sunset to get a true sense of the aesthetics of the Tetons.
8) Grab some food and eat in Jackson Lake picnic area near Moran Junction North entrance of the park.
8) Dip your feet in the Jackson lake in the swim beach area. You can also go kayaking in Jackson Lake. There are a couple of rental options at the Colter Bay Village Marina near the lake.
9) Drive along Jenny Lake scenic drive road.
10) Go horse riding in the fields in Tetons. You can find more information on it here.
11) Watch a movie in the Spud drive-in theatre between Victor and Driggs. It falls on the way and hard to miss.
12) Go river rafting in Snake River. You can find more information on it here.
13) Drive along the scenic highways of ID-32/33
14) Try some comfort food in Daydreams in the small town of Driggs near Victor,ID. They make some really great pizza, huckleberry Ice cream and smoothies.
15) Get some delicious coffee at Local joes in Victor. They are open only from 5:30 am to 12:30 PM
16) Grab some good dinner at Big BBQ Hole restaurant which is open until 10:00PM. Their Bison Burger and pork sliders are delicious with some french fries of course!
17) Grab some delicious break fast in Provisions restaurant in Driggs.
On our Road trip to the Tetons we came across the ghost town of Tetonia, small and fun town of Driggs and a charming town of Victor. All the three towns are absolutely different from one another and have an experience of their own. I would definitely suggest stopping by and embracing the hospitality and the uniqueness of these towns 🙂 Hope you enjoyed my list of the Grand Teton National Park, things to do!
