Ultimate Bachelorette Party in South Korea!

October 3, 2024

If you’ve been to bachelorette parties in Las Vegas, Nashville, or Texas, you may think you’ve seen it all—but nothing compares to celebrating your last hurrah with your besties in South Korea! As a long-time lover of Korean manhwa, visiting Seoul has always been on my bucket list, and what better excuse than my own bachelorette party to finally gather my closest friends for the adventure of a lifetime in South Korea? Over the course of two weeks, we immersed ourselves in everything Seoul had to offer, from food and shopping to breathtaking landscapes and spiritual experiences. If you’re looking to plan a unique bachelorette trip with your girlfriends, South Korea offers the perfect mix of excitement, relaxation, and unforgettable moments.

Welcome to Seoul!

The adventure began the moment we landed at Incheon Airport. From there, we took a cab to our stay in the vibrant district of Myeongdong, the shopping capital of Seoul, and what a sight it was! As a first-time visitor, the dazzling city lights, the enticing aroma of street food, and the buzz of people immediately made me realize this trip was going to be nothing short of spectacular.

While we stayed in a private room in a hostel (which, if you’re more than two people, I wouldn’t recommend due to its small size. The pictures definitely mislead us), the location made it worth it. Everything was within walking distance, and even though we had a late arrival, there were plenty of places open to grab food. Our first meal? Some of the best fried chicken at Artmonster, just down the street. It was the perfect start to our South Korean bachelorette adventure.

Day 1: Myeongdong & Gyeongbokgung Palace – A Perfect Blend of Shopping and History

Our first full day in Seoul was dedicated to exploring Myeongdong and its endless shopping options. Since we were up early (thanks to jetlag), we found ourselves at a cozy, hidden breakfast spot called Seowonjuk, where we enjoyed a comforting bowl of ginseng porridge. It was one of those “locals-only” spots, and even though we were unsure at first, it turned out to be a hidden gem.

After a morning of shopping for skincare products (because no bachelorette in Seoul is complete without a beauty haul), we hopped on the subway to visit the majestic Gyeongbokgung Palace. Walking around in awe, we saw locals dressed in hanboks, which made the historic site feel even more magical.

Afterward, we headed to the nearby Jongno District to grab some spicy Korean ramyun in one of the small, cozy alley restaurants. The spice level was no joke, but the warmth of the soup made braving the winter weather a breeze.

Day 2: Day Trip to Nami Island – Nature, Rail Bikes, and Petite France

Day two was dedicated to a scenic escape with a day trip to Nami Island. We booked our tour through Klook, and the day began with a thrilling railbike ride through Gangchon’s mountain tunnels. Although it was freezing, the adventure was well worth the chills.

Nami Island itself was breathtaking. Walking among the bamboo trees and taking in the colors of nature felt like a scene from a fairy tale. We even got to indulge in delicious fried pancakes—a perfect snack to warm us up.

To wrap up the day, we visited Petite France & Little Italy, a charming French & Italian -themed village, which made for the perfect photo-op (and laughs with my Italian friend who found the setting equally amusing!) and added a whimsical twist to our bachelorette party in South Korea.

Day 3: New Hair, New Vibe – Embracing Seoul’s Style Scene

What’s a bachelorette without a little makeover? Day three was dedicated to doing something bold and fun—coloring our hair! My friend went for a daring pink, and I decided on a vivid green (which took three layers of bleach to achieve on my jet-black hair!). If you want to bring home a unique souvenir, trust me, getting your hair colored in Seoul is a must.

After a full day at the salon, we were starving and headed to the famous Myeongdong Kyoja, a Michelin-starred restaurant where we feasted on dumplings, noodle soup, and cold noodles. Needless to say, it was some of the best food we had on the trip, leaving us in a blissful food coma. The delicious food and our new hairdos made this day a fashionable highlight of our bachelorette party in South Korea.

Day 4-5: Exploring Bukcheon Village – History Meets Modern Day

Bukchon hanok village

Next, we left the bustling streets of Myeongdong and moved to the serene Bukchon Hanok Village, where we stayed in a charming Airbnb tucked into the hillside. The village is filled with traditional Korean hanoks (houses), and we couldn’t resist renting hanboks and wandering around the quaint streets. It was such a peaceful contrast to the energetic city, and the views from the Gilsangsa Temple were nothing short of breathtaking.

Waking up early on day five, we hiked to Waryong Park to catch a stunning sunrise over the city—an experience that made all the uphill trekking worth it. Afterward, we spent the afternoon exploring nearby Seongbuk-dong Bread Factory, a massive bakery where we indulged in all the sweet treats we could find.

Day 6-7: Itaewon & Hongdae – Partying in Seoul’s Trendiest Districts

What’s a bachelorette party in South Korea without a night out in Seoul’s iconic nightlife scene? On day six, we hit up Itaewon, one of Seoul’s most lively nightlife districts, where we spent hours soaking in the music and dancing the night away. The energy in Itaewon is contagious, and the pub scene was perfect for our bachelorette squad.

The next day, we treated ourselves to a much-needed spa day—the best way to recover from the previous night’s festivities. Seoul is known for its luxurious spas, and after a relaxing facial and massage, we felt completely rejuvenated. We spent the evening in Hongdae, enjoying more street food and soaking in the youthful vibe of this artsy neighborhood.

Day 8: A Relaxing Last Day in Seoul

Haneul Coffee

On our final day in Seoul, we kept things low-key, enjoying a second round of the best burgers at Haneul Coffee Shop (seriously, they are a must-try!) and checking Korean BBQ off our bucket list. By now, we were fully embracing the delicious flavors of beef in Korea, even though it’s not something I usually prefer.

Day 9-11: Temple Stay at Golgulsa – A Detox for the Soul

After a week of partying, eating, and exploring, it was time for some detox and reflection. We took a bullet train to Golgulsa Temple, near Busan, for a two-day temple stay. The peaceful environment of this Buddhist temple was a welcome change, with morning meditations, taekwondo demonstrations, and silent hikes through the mountains.

The temple’s food was simple yet nourishing. This spiritual retreat was the perfect way to unwind after our fun-filled week in Seoul. The peaceful atmosphere of the temple and the calming rituals left us feeling refreshed, adding a unique and unforgettable touch to our bachelorette party in South Korea.
