Dreaming of a Getaway to Rajasthan with Yaan Tours!!

June 27, 2019

It has been almost 7 years since I left India to explore this thing called life! Born and brought up in India, I feel incredibly embarrassed to say, among 18 countries that I’ve been to, India remains the only unexplored one. When people ask me for any travel advice or to plan India trips for them, I direct them to more knowledgable resource who’ve created more personable and tailor made itineraries based on people’s taste and experience they would love to have from their trip. Yaan Tours is one of the new sources I stumbled upon recently whose Rajasthan Itinerary made me dream of an instant getaway to India.

After your scrumptious meal it’s time to see the Taj Mahal in the evening with your guide. Taj Mahal, a 17th century marble mausoleum was commissioned to be built by Shah Jahan in 1632 in the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Day 4: Jaipur
After an early breakfast, meet your guide at the hotel and be driven 20 mins to visit Amer Fort with a stop at Hawa Mahal for a photo in front of the latticed screen. Hawa Mahal was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. Its unique five-story exterior is akin to the honeycomb of a beehive with its 953 small windows called jharokhas decorated with intricate latticework. The original intent of the lattice design was to allow royal ladies to observe everyday life and festivals celebrated in the street below without being seen, since they had to obey the strict rules of “purdah”, which forbade them from appearing in public without face coverings. This architectural feature also allowed cool air from the Venturi effect (doctor breeze) to pass through, thus making the whole area more pleasant during the high temperatures in summer.

Continue driving towards Amer to visit the Amer Fort. Constructed of red sandstone and marble, the attractive, opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-i-Aam, or “Hall of Public Audience”, the Diwan-i-Khas, or “Hall of Private Audience”, the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over a water cascade
within the palace. Hence, the Amer Fort is also popularly known as the Amer Palace built by Raja Man Singh Ji in 1592. Spend some time here learning more about the history followed by a guided tour around the private sections of the City Palace. The City Palace of Jaipur is an impressive complex of courtyards, gardens and buildings and parts of the building are still occupied by the royal family.

Lunch can be enjoyed at Samode Haveli, a short distance from the City Palace following which you may choose to spend the rest of the afternoon shopping.

Visit Ridhi Sidhi textiles for block printed fabrics or go jewelry shopping to Ratnavali or Gem Plaza depending on what you’d like to purchase. Ratnavali is known for its precious, semi-precious and silver jewelry at reasonable prices however we would recommend the Gem Plaza if you’d like to purchase more finer pieces.
