Bainbridge Island, perfect for a date!

March 5, 2018

I love the variety that Puget Sound has to offer. Taking a small walk to Sculpture park with some coffee or wine or food and watching a sunset also counts for a good date idea. A walk on Pier 66 to get a view of Mt Rainer, Elliott Bay and the Ferris Wheel all in one while smoking a joint adds to the joy of the moment. Getting some spicy chicken masala burger from Burger and kabob hut and eating at Gasworks park at night while gazing at the skyline’s reflection in Lake Union is my second favorite. Walking on pike street and store hopping, trying a variety of food in the market from Piroshky, La Panier, Turkish delight, Crumpet shop, some ice cream at Shugs Soda Fountain or Molly moons and walking to Kerry park at night is another one.

So basically there’s a lot you can do to make your date interesting!

Yes, the ferries are huge and can accommodate a lot of cars!

I love this part of getting to the island, view of the Skyline from the Ferry is one of the must see’s in Seattle!

My favorite one is taking a ferry to the Bainbridge Island. This is the closest Island at 30 mins ferry ride away from Seattle. I personally love taking a car on the ferry. With a car, it will cost you around $20 one way and if you decide to just go on foot, it’s around $8. Even if you get here before time, you can walk around the pier or take a Ferris wheel ride in the meantime.

Bainbridge is a small city in the west of Washington with a lot of restaurants to choose from, stores to shop from and sightseeing to do.

Take a “stroll of well-being” in Bloedel Reserve. This is a 150-acre man-made forest garden, open to the public. A stroll in this garden includes a lot of stops on the way till you reach the Manor house. It takes around an hour to browse the whole space. It was wonderful to see the Japanese garden, the Moss Garden, the Bird Marsh, Woodland, the Japanese guest house all in one place. Perfect place for a walk full of talks! It costs around $15 per person to get in here and you are given a map which is very helpful and informative when you are out there and if you want to skip few exhibits on the way.

By car its 20 mins away from Bainbridge ferry terminal. You can either uber here if you don’t have a car or use Kitsap transit that picks you up from the ferry terminal and drops you off at various stops on the way. It will cost you around $2 cash or an Orca card.

After you have enjoyed the beautiful walk, treat yourself to some fresh Banh mi at Thuy’s Pho House and Coffee. We also requested them to make us some French 75 even though they didn’t have it on their menu. They surprised us with a large glass of one 😀

Eat some delicious savory or sweet at J’aime Les Crepes. They have some really good options to choose from. Smoked salmon (Norwegian) and Veggie Crepes are my favorites.

Winslow way has some really good stores for window shopping. Paraffine, Plum, The Traveler, and Danger are my favorites.

Outside Paraffine, On Winslow way!

Have an evening coffee/kombucha at Hitchcock Deli on Winslow Way or you can try other places there.

Take a ferry back to Seattle in the evening and get a lively view of the twinkling skyline. It’s something you cannot miss.

A day away from the city and on an island is definitely a day well spent especially if you have a good date 😉
